My Best Friend in Kabul
I found a 17 year old tutor, Meetra, through Myung Ju unni this past week and we had our first session yesterday. I was really excited to have my first Afghan relationship with such a super sweet gal. Unfortunately, her father who is out of the country found out and said it was not a good idea... 1) because she is a girl and, 2) because it was unsafe for her to be out & about.
She texted me after MJ unni relayed the news to me..
Meetra: Hi estef how r u? iam Meetra iam sooooooooo sory becoz of that but i cant do that iam so sory
Me: No problem! We can still hang out and be friends right? :)
Meetra: Yes it ok will be a god friend and best friend bt iam so sory iam verey sham becoz of that
Me: It is okay. I understand. Hope to see you soon!
Meetra: Ok me to bye 4 now i wil cl u becoz ur my best and best friend
Me: So sweet. Tashakur muallem ma (Thank you, my teacher) and best friend.
Meetra: Hahahahahahaha wow so nice like u
What a shame indeed... but at least I came out of it with a "best and best friend"!
